I need some help on purchasing a 02 ls1 longblock. It is still in original car, no mods even no exhaust, 140k. Car is in great shape inside and out. The bad, engine will not start, guy put scope down in cylinders and there is rust. Maybe leaking intake gasket or head gasket? I have been reading that ls1 block can only be honed over .007. Do you guys think rust will be removed with slight hone allowed? Is this a safe purchase at $450?

I doubt that it will clean up if it has been sitting for longer than a few months. I just sold a ls1 short block with under 20,000 miles for $900 that was in perfect condition.
