valve seal replacement

I've been searching about this and have been getting some conflicting info. I understand that brown is for exhaust and black is for intake. But in all the photos the brown seal is taller. In the service manual I have, the taller seal is also identified as the exhaust valve seal.

My problem is I have a bag of shorter brown seals and taller black seals so I'm confused as to which is correct for which valve. Pics included.

I'd forget about the color and go by size/ shape. Different manufacturer might be the reason for the color difference.

That's what I was thinking. Didn't wanna be wrong though.
