Default help me identify what came out of my oil pan

A 5/8" long cylindric shaped metal came out of my oil pan while doing an oil change on my C5, can anybody identify it? It looks like a bearing. I will post pics as soon as I figure out how to post pics. It was stuck to the drain plug BTW

I'm starting to think it looks like a timing chain pin

Thats too large of diameter for a rocker needle bearing. It does look like a cam gear pin.

I'm thinking about pulling the whole engine and rebuild it. My vette has around 180k miles and leaks oil from several places so I think this is a good excuse to rebuild it. the car has been on jackstands due overheating issues, I was gonna take the intake off in order to change the oil pressure sensor, heater core and AC vacuum line.

I've had this car since May 2013 and I've been fixing everything that could go wrong on a C5. Not complaining, I love my car when it runs LOL but I wanted to give you guys a little background about the car.

The overheating could be a timing gear/chain issue.

Good to know, I installed a new ac delco water pump, 160 thermostat, all aluminium double core radiator and a new overflow thank. The car still overheated on jackstands but I think that's a whole other issue I need to figure out

Even if that is from the cam gear, the bolts will hold it in place so I can't believe it has moved otherwise it wouldn't run correctly.

This.

Regardless, it's time to pull her apart and inspect. Everything.

New cam at a minimum. If that came out of the cam, there's no telling what's next...
