Default Installing heads, issues with gaskets

DNJ head gaskets do not state which side is up. I assume complete ring goes toward block side. Also there is some water jacket issues. I assume that this is normal and saves costs as you can use the same gasket on both sides. Am I correct on this? The head gasket on the bottom is sitting correctly and the white lines running around the gasket face up toward the head?

I am using 853 heads and they do have the notches so i do have to use the graphite gaskets.

Look for the word FRONT, not up or down. And the the cooling passages on the front of the engine should be blocked by the gasket, so your gasket is on backwards.

Explain this please. I have graphite Mr Gasket and they say left. And they no longer have or stock the right hand side.

Why aren't they all interchangable?

Russ, as you can see from the pics, there is NO labeling on these gaskets whatsoever. That is the problem.
DNJ has terrible tech. support
These gaskets were purchased in a head set from Rock Auto which the rest of the set looks fine.

I went ahead and purchased Felpro head gaskets from a local store, to avoid any potential issues, and Rockauto issued me a store credit for just the head gaskets.

USE DNJ stuff AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! I will not be buying anything from DNJ again after this.
