Default 6.0 truck rods

Building a turbo iron block 6.0,wondering if there's any truth to rumor that truck rods are stronger than car??? Already have forged JE pistons for build and studs for heads and mains. Anyone know what stock rods are good to HP wise??? Target HP is 700-800HP. Thanks!!!!!

I think year has more to do with it than car/truck.
Rpm is a bigger killer of rods than hp. The rod beam can handle a lot of compressive force, the rod bolts big end are more likely to fail under tension when yanking the piston down from TDC.
If buying pistons I would buy aftermarket rods, have to have it balanced anyway.

They may be, but if you're shelling out thousands of dollars for a high HP build are you really going to cheapen out on a few hundred bux on a very important piece of the puzzle?

Scat rods are forged steel with ARP bolts, can be had for under $300. Budget H beams are between $4-500. I personally would not be putting stock rods into anything performance oriented, much less a boosted build pushing 800hp.

It's gonna cost you more money and aggravation in the long run by cheapening out on stuff now than buy spending a few more bux and doing things right the first time. Taking out an engine, rebuilding it and reinstalling it costs time and money.

I like stock shortblocks stuff, served me well but even at that, like I said if swapping pistons I would do rods without a second thought.

I think it was around '04 the rods were upgraded but I agree with the other guys, don't cut that corner. If there's not enough money to do it right, there's certainly not enough to do it twice.
