Default 08 Tahoe, collasped lifter

Has anybody had problems with this? Girl just bought me this truck, no lifter ticking noise or anything, but had a misfire on 7. The intake rocker isn't trying to move. Engine is really clean inside, well taken care of. Don't see no metal so I'm hoping the cam is ok. I know the head has to come off, I guess if its just a lifter I should replace the whole side?

Check the push rod 1st, maybe its broken. If the push rod isn't broken you have a major problem. Either the lifter broke off or a cam lobe is wiped out.

Or the lifter is just collapsed. Cylinders 1,4,6,&7 deactivate during AFM mode. Its quite possible that it is just collapsed and wont prime back up. O.P., if you are going into it Id replace all lifters on aboth banks and deactivate the afm with a tuner or have it done with some kind of tuning software.

08 Tahoe, under 100k miles should that be under factory warranty still, its pretty common for that to happen, and the first day my truck is out of warranty its getting a cam swap and the dod removed, only reason I wished I had gotten the 6.2 over the 5.3

The 5.3 that my 243 heads came off of had a worn cam lobe, had a missfire on cyl #8. Also 08 tahoe

Until then you might want to get a handheld programmer and turn off the dod to keep it from happening. If you pull anything with some weight behind it you would see there is more than just eliminating the dod for wanting the 6.2 over the 5.3. I had an 09 5.3 crew cab LTZ with the 6 speed trans and the same 3.42 gears with same 20" tires and wheels as my current denali has and the 6.2 is a totally different animal. Its a big difference even at part throttle acceleration through the gears. Not having to downshift and gear hunt with the 6 speed through rolling hills in the country is nice also. When pulling my ski boat to the lake there is no contest between the two.

GM has problems with 07-13 5.3 and 6.0 lifters mostly AFM lifters as a GM tech I can tell you to disable the ignition coils and remove the fuel pump relay or fpcm fuse and crank it with the valve cover off to check for rocker arm movement.

and if your still un der your factory powertrain warrenty bring it to the dealer. more then likely you will get all new lifters
