SDPC ported Ls6/799 Heads
SDPC ported Ls6/799 Heads I was wondering if anyone were running these heads as they are a really good price(couldn't find a lot info on them)? Thinking about running these on a possible 370 build
I was looking at getting them too but found so little information I got discouraged and went back to looking for used Texas Speed heads.
If I had the resources I would purchase them and flow them at a friends shop and depending on those results could get some honest dyno results. But I don't have over $1100+ to tie up in something I might not be happy with and have to sell for a loss.

I would suggest talking to SDPC directly about them. They may be able to provide you with some real world numbers and data. I do agree that you can't find much, if any, results from them.

I looked at these but like everyone else, there is little info on real world results. I'm probably going back to Livernois Stage II heads as I know they work from personal experience, I can find flow data and such on them, they have springs good to .690 lift, and are $400 more. I can swing an extra $200 a head for something I know works well.
If it wouldn't be so expensive to ship them back I would consider ordering them and flowing them and if happy use them...if not return them.
It cost me $17 to ship some coil packs yesterday though...so a head or 2 would cost a fortune.

FedEx was $19.xx
Box was perfect size for the 2 coil rails with about 1" packing around them. Weight was 8lbs 14oz.
Needless to say I won't be in a hurry to sell as much stuff in the classifieds on here. Lose your *** on shipping and Paypal to the point you can't price stuff for enough to be worthwhile.

They are better then stock and probably about as equal in quality of CNC work to any other offering in the general price range.
But for the money spent, Can you get a better bargain on some of the other offerings in the general price range? It all depends on your goals and needs in a cylinder head.
Things you may want to consider:
They use a Stock valve and Stock LS Blue Springs that are only good for about .570 lift.
Other heads in the general price range offer dual springs. Good For about .650 lift. Some offer aftermarket stainless steel valve's with their work.
Some companies CNC the combustion chamber for to help with consistency between cylinders. It also aids in air flow and Flame travel.
Are these a Bad Head, No. Are they The Best Head out there, No. But look at what you're getting for the money. 243/799 castings out right that have already been CNC ported with a mild spring set that is good for an entry level set up.
Let's say you buy some used cores for $400, Now they need to be cleaned and rebuilt with a good valve job. That's another $250-$300 parts and Good labor. Blue Springs, lets say $80 shipped to your house. You're in the $700-800 range for a set of rebuilt heads with no port work. On average CNC porting alone is valued between $500-$600
$1100-$1200 isn't looking so bad for an out right set of heads especially with CNC porting. Especially when you consider you need a set of cores for most of the porters or have to pay the out right core charge. So lets say the average Stage 2 CNC package is around $1200-$1300 plus you need to add $400 for the cores.
IMO there not a bad deal but may not be the best head If you're looking for all out performance.
That being said I did find an online comparison of there LS3 heads and those seem to be right there with some of the other offerings on the market. I would imagine these heads wouldn't be too far off for the cathedral head market. http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/engine/...er-heads-test/
