Knock/tap all of a sudden
Knock/tap all of a sudden 2004 A4 92k miles,bone stock,never raced just a little spirited driving.I parked my car at night without any problems.The next morning when I started it it had a loud Tap/knock at the top end.I shut it down in less than a min.I had **** to do so I took my truck.The next day I checked the oil and all looked good I started it and parked it in my yard.I changed the oil and the noise got less,like only at one cylinder.Before it was the whole damn motor.I went and bought a stethoscope and when I started it again the noise was gone.I was overjoyed,so I let it run for 5 mins or so and the noise came back.I did some research and It is either a lifter or rocker.Felling a rocker would come and go I feel its a lifter.I cut open the old oil filter and it has no metal in it.I installed an oil gauge and with the fresh oil at a cold start its 32 psi.It that low?I used mobile 1 5w-30.Could the oil pump be going?
