Default 4.8L upgrades

I am looking at different options to make my 4.8 healthier. It is not installed yet but is going into a s10. I have a comp cam 220/228 .581/.588 lift 114+2lca cam. I am looking into different head options. This is a budget build, is there any stock heads besides 243s (too much $) that would perform better than the stock 862s. There is a set of 806's with valve covers and brackets locally for sale. I am getting a set of ls6 springs and was planning on a 3k stall. I am just wanting some opinions. I am pretty sure any stock head is going to hurt because of the lower compression, but please correct me if I am wrong.

Get some aftermarket springs. Consider more stall with that much can and that little displacement.

The only thing those 806 cores might be good for is the 2 inch intake valve.

Stick with your 862's and mill them a little to bump the compression and get a good valve job.

Agreed in run from the 806s. You could get tap Cnc work decking and 2" valve upgrade to your 4.8 heads for $750 though!
