Most CCs out of combustion chamber if i have a set of 317s with a stock 71.06cc CC can the bowls be ported enough to get them up around 74 or 75cc? trying to lower the compression as much as i can without getting new pistons. along with that is it ok/safe to run larger bore head gaskets, like if i have a stock ls1 bore with 317s could i run a gasket over 4.02 at a .060 thickness?
I'll take this a step further, what compression ratio are you shooting for that you need such a big chamber (and why)?
When I spoke with AI, they mentioned their optional chamber porting on the 243 heads netted an increase of ~5cc over stock. Maybe they can do the same kind of work on 317s.

I'm trying to put together a budget FI car. I have all the turbo stuff just need an engine to put it to. And i found a couple stock short blocks with low miles so i was gonna try to use one of them. With stock 317s it puts me a little above 9.5 to 1 i would like it closer to 9. I was gonna go wild and get forged everything and shoot for 800hp but im realizing now that's gonna run me 3 times the cost and time. And id never use that 800hp
You don't need to lower compression like that.
Far as using a large bore gasket that would not be effective far as lowering compression, a thicker gasket is, but buying additional bore size is not and just makes a place for carbon to gather which could help detonation.
