The exhaust port cares more about when you open it and where you close it than it does area due to the extremely high pressures encountered in the port.
Only in an application where the exhaust valve is purposefully downsized to accommodate a larger intake valve should area be of utmost concern. *Think Pro-Stock and high RPM N/A applications*
