need advice for 5.3 engine upgrade
I want to add 100+HP and was looking at a top end kit. I don't want force induction....
Questions
1- how much HP can the bottom half of my engine take
2- what modifications do I need to make to my transmission
3- is the 3.73 gear in the rear end good enough to handle the new HP I want.
4- any drive train parts I should beef up
5- any advice is very appreciative
I already installed headers CAI superchip programmer and straight pipe ( all kind of a waste of money) I am not a mechanic but info know quite a bit I think. I plan on starting this project next year I need to save my money up first.
I only drive this on the weekends because I have a company truck i drive during the week. I know I'll be losing fuel economy but how much do you think ibwill be losing.
Thank you hopefully I can get some good motivational answers because I'm very excited about this project. And by the way the top end kit i want is made by trickflow.
texas speed basic porting 750$ should get you ported heads close to 300cfm talk to martin @ tick speed, patrick g or ed curtis for a camshaft. maybe flattop pistons if you have a 5.3l with dish pistons, port the stock truck manifold, i recommend brian tooled valve springs only 229.00 headers an full exhaust don't know what trans you have but i would recommend a 3500 stall aftermarket drive shaft if you have an 4l80e install the trans go hd kit an leave it be
