starter bolt hole broke...can it be fixed?
"THE BLOCK HAS OUTSIDE STARTER BOLT HOLE BROKE OUT, A LITTLE WELDING AND MACHINE WORK AND YOUR GOOD TO GO"
that's what i was told by the guy selling the motor. it's a complete shortblock (no pan) and he wants less than 150 bucks...is it worth it, and can it be fixed?

iron block, aluminum block?
do you really NEED another shortblock? if not could you put money aside for something that doesn't need work like that?
that above statement is generally how i look at things. "is it worth the lesser price now and put some work into it or will it be a greater hassle down the line"
if it wasn't needed desperately i personally would pass on it. i'm not saying it can't be fixed, just not worth it when you see a 500/600 shortblock pop up for LS1's and seen a couple cheaper 5.3/6.0's at times.
