Default my 5.3 build

I'm building my first ls based motor, just curious how you guys thinks these parts will do together.
Stock 5.3 block , stock crank, stock rods arp bolts, 4.8 pistons. Heads 862 with stainless valves, stock size exhaust , 2.02 intake, ported, roller rockers, trick flow springs. Cam is 232/234 , .595/.598 on 112. Have a stock truck intake and injectors , this is where I could use assistance. I'm unsure if I need a bigger throttle body or injectors. How do you think this combo will perform? Any advise will be appreciated.

Well the problem with the truck intake you'll be limited to a smaller throttle body..... it's a great intake for torque but if you want to make a improvement on the intake without breaking the bank get you a Trailblazer SS intake it'll make more power and torque both and accept a 92mm throttle body. How do you plan on using the truck? Weekend toy? Daily driver?

It's more of a toy than anything. It will be driven on the street on occasion. I also have a 3500 stall should that be sufficient.

Smaller displacement will make a given can peak at a higher rpm. IMO the can is too much, should use less duration.

It's a off the shelf, I've noticed ls cams are spec'd strange, they give you the rpm range like on this cam is 2400-7000 but then you need like a 3500 stall to get it to work. Trans is a 350 turbo

The rpm ranges are very generic, the same cam will fit a 4.8-6.2l motor.

I understand that the cam will fit various motors, doesn't matter cams already installed in motor. So we will see how it runs. I hope well

My point was a cam that peaks at say 6500rpm in a 6.0l probably won't peak till 69-7000 in a 4.8l then to use the power curve right you need to rev 400rpm or so past peak.
Header and intake manifold choices can influence peak rpm as well.

I knew what you meant 96capricemgr. I'm just a noob to this style motor. I'm used to the way cams are spec'd for sbc and similar style pushrod motors. But I was looking for looking for a cam with a pretty healthy chop and make good power. I'm mean if I'm putting a Chevy motor in a ford I want it to run. Where building 1 3/4 fenderwell headers for this truck, and I'm sure if need be I can change intake.

Don't let me he car owners tell you the truck intake is bad, it is nearly as good as the LS6.

Things have changed, a buddy of mine is giving me an ls1 block. So gonna get new pistons and possibly rods. Everything else should stay the same except for the intake. Is this a little better combo for the 5.7 over the 5.3

If you already have the 5.3 put together and ready to go in the truck then I'd say stick with it and forget the ls1
