Default 4"stroke vs stock 3.622 stroke

I have a Lq4 block for my 99 transam . I plan just honing the bore if i can get away with it . But here come the question . How much am i leaving on the table if i reuse the stock crank vs 4" if the motor is built the same way ? I plan on nice healthy blower cam , set of lsa heads & set of blower wise I pistons and my Novi 2200 SL supercharger with 18psi .

If adding a blower I would save the money and use the stock crank.

Displacement is the most expensive way to add power. Lots of coin for relatively little gain compared to spending money on heads cam etc.

If you have the budget to do it all WELL go for it, but if the stroker crank will cause you to cut a corner say not porting heads or something then skip it.

You will need new rods and pistons to match that 4" stroke crank. You can't just reuse the stock stuff.

With a centrifugal supercharger, I would keep the stroke shorter, since you'll be winding it out quite a bit. Longer stroke makes faster RPMs harder on parts, because they have to travel further in the same amount of time, and they see higher accelration rates at the extremes.

If you were using a roots type blower and looking for ground pounding torque, I'd say stroke it. Mostly, by not stroking, you're giving up low end torque.

If you were N/A you'd be giving up 50 or so ftlbs but since your FI I would reuse the stock crank and do forged rods, pistons, main and head studs and go with it.

For future readers:

There is no replacement for displacement. This concludes Engines 101.
