Default All the blocks...

So I've been reading from all these sponsors about the iron blocks and the short blocks and the long blocks... I've searched, so please do yell at me for asking a stupid question. My major concern is keeping the car street legal. I'd like to be able to drive it everyday. I'm mainly concerned with 383, 396, or 402/408 blocks. If I were to install one of these with hooker longtubes and all the bolt on goodies, possibly true duals (still need to check local laws), am I going to pass the sniffer or should I buy a 26 year old car so I don't have to pass emissions? Also what size cams can I run and remain street legal? Thanks in advance.

you can make a stroker smog legal but it wont nearly reach its potential. you dont need an iron block for a 383, just a 4" stroke on your stock block preped of course. if smog is a concern for you lookin into FI.

yep....CIs are not the way to go if smog is a problem. Have a new 348 (+0.005" bore stock block) built with the stock crank, good forged rods, and forged pistons then put lots of boost on it. You will pass emissions and it will run like crazy.

I definitely agree, but I like the turbo route and it's kinda hard to squeeze the turbos in, plus the money involved is a tad bit more, say 10 grand more... but thanks for the input, I've never really thought about doing stock cubes with FI. Definitely easier...

well I know there at least a few companies making single turbo kits for LS1 F-bodies.....for a while there was someone making twin setups (don't know if they still make them or not).
