Default With application which cam would you recomend?

01 Firehawk M6, with a 12-bolt 4.10 gears, hooker LT's, with lanes flo pro twisties (I think I'll go with the flo pro's anyways) SLP air lid, and a spec stage 3 clutch. I'm shooting for mid to low 11's (and yes i can drive pretty damn good) with a cam and stock heads.. Which one would you go with? I've been told the TREX and I'm pretty set on it, but as far as a daily driver what other cam with stock heads should I look into.

to shoot for mid to low 11's your gonna need a pretty damn big cam & weight reduction, I'd say trex is one of the few cams out there that will get you where you want to go but its up to you to finish up with all the other bolt ons if you havent done so & consider switching gears. I know smokin TA's got 4.56's and goes through the traps in 4th running low 11's which is where youd want to be...I'd look at his combo thouroughly if you want that performance.

Yup I know I'm gonna need just about every bolt on I can get before i go with that cam. I've seen cam only cars run 10's but its a matter of how streetable. They claim they are streetable but I find that hard to With a good tune the Trex should put me there. I really nessicaly have to have mid to LOW 11's an 11 period would be nice. All I'm looking for is 11 second time slips, and a pro street dragster sound

I allready read those post before I made mine. Neither post says anything about producing sub 11 second time slips with stock heads so thats why I made my own.

Go spend some time at Thunder Valley. See how many cam only F-bodies are running mid to low 11s N/A. It just doesn't happen here.

Matt (Verbs) runs 11.6 on his X3 before the heads went on. 11's should be attainable no sweat with some sticky tires and good weather.

And thats another thing I need to take into consideration. At thundervalley its 1,100 feet above sea level. You really dont see to many cars busting out some 13's stock which really suprises me. I ran a 13.3 at 106 with a 2.1 60' with just an air lid, and dynomouth exhaust. Not to shabby for a basically stock car, but if I can get sticky tires, headers, gears, a clutch and a nice tune with a cam I really dont think I'd have to many problems hitting 11's. It might be high 11's but i think it will be capable of it with the right cam.

We are higher than 1100 ft here in AZ, and we have people running 10's on heads and cam, and 11's on cam only, it's all in the tune and traction, the LG, TREX, TSP, etc cams that are big enough and make the power will get you there.

Orange peel one more quick question for you. I read that you went with the G5X3 cam. I heard another guy say that it sounds more like an exotic car vs. what the G5X2 sounds like.. Will i loose that muscle car sound and lope if i go with the G5X3 over the G5x2?

**** no, it sounds SOOOOOOO MEAN, total muscle car. I have a Borla on, with the smallest plate in there, and it's still loud as hell and deep muscle car sound. I plan to get some vids of the car real soon so people can hear it. I have the 114lsa too, and it doesn't seem any different as far as the lopey sound than my 112lsa Comp cam did before.

There are plenty of stock or very lightly modded F-bodies running your times at TV. Both my A4 cars ran 13.5 - 13.6 /104 with only a lid. And there is a big difference from running mid to low 11s (your original statement) and hitting 11s or high 11s. At TV, you are lucky to ever see a DA below 2000 and it's usually in the 3000~4000 ft range.

Mid to low 11's is capable WITH the right cam at our altitude. I've seen it done I want somthing thats not WAYYYY to extreme and I can take it out on the highway for some 200 mile trips if need be. I dont want anything too extreme considering this is my daily.

Name the car then that ran that at T/V. The only local cars I know of running mid to low 11s has a blower on it or are spraying. Spend a little more time at the track.

The TREX might not be for you then, reports of not so great drivability below 2000 rpm, NEEDS tall gears and tuning, etc. Not pushing the X3 or X2 on you, but they make a lot of power and are VERY VERY drivable everyday, I drive my car everyday, and it's bitchin'!!!!!

Also take a look at the TSP cams, they seem to do alright as well.

There are a few people running 120mph trap speeds with the tsp 231/237 cam fwiw and i drive mine every day and your 4.10's would match up damn good with that cam.
