Default Cheap piston opinions?

I originally was building up a turbo 6.0, but funds got tight and im now just trying to get my car back on the road for a while (and get all all the kinks worked out with my 4l80E swap)

Anyway im building my LS1 pretty much stock with a cam. I had the cylinders deglazed and checked over at the machine shop. I have the stock pistons, but they have some wear on the skirts. I found some 3.898 pistons for super cheap $130 shipped! They are Diamond power. They also look like they have a coating on the sides as well.

Looking for opinions, stock or go cheap aftermarket? I also cleaned up my stock pistons, they look amazing, just have some skirt wear.

I'd bore guage the cylinders to see where they are size wise and then make a decision. Lets say they wore a thou to .0015" and then have now been honed (ball or stones). New pistons with coating will run OK but could still have excessive piston to wall clearance for a hypereutectic type. See if you can find 3.903" sized slugs and have the cylinders fresh honed to the .005" over size. It's more about having straight cylinder walls for ring concentricity than just a visually good looking cross hatch but an uneven shaped wall.

I too would like to know what some decent budget gorged pistons for stock c.i. would be. I found some Probes and some wiesco's for a bit under 600. Also a lot of aftermarket pistons seem to use a .927 pin and for stock rods we need a .940ish pin don't we?
