It sucks to ruin a new set of CNC heads.

Yeah I'm bummed about that. I'm going to take them to a machine shop here in town that is supposed to be pretty good at fixing heads and see if they can do something with them

If your using an OEM LS1/LS6 intake manifold, through it away. As there is no way to verify that you got all the debris out of it.

going from a 5.7 to 6.0 with the same heads and intake want net u alot of gains how ever it will be cheaper to go with a iron 6.0 i would buy a 6.0 block and stroke to a 402-408-416.

One valve hitting a piston would be a bad spring.

Did you test the springs after?

How do the rest of the pistons look?

Did any other valves touch pistons?

Would dipping it in a parts bath not work? Then running air through each running and through the opening.

I haven't removed the springs yet so no I haven't tested them yet. The #8 piston got hit by the int valve as well. #6 and #8 weren't cut deep enough. According to Martin the valve could have bounced off the seat some how and hit the piston when it was at tdc.

It's the exhaust valve that gets hit from floating because the piston chases it closed. The intake valve is beginning to open as the piston comes up to TDC.

If the pockets weren't cut right that's a real bummer.

That sucks. I had one of my PRC heads repaired after it dropped a valve and shoved it through the roof of the port. Still works perfect

Well it was definitely intake valve that contacted. So maybe it wasn't at TDC when it hit.

What did it run you to have the head repaired?

No I went back together with scat rods and mahle pistons, all new bearings. The crank is stock but it's been polished. I actually just got everything back together last week and after chasing a few leaks was able to put some miles on it this weekend. I'm at about 120 now and have one oil change on it. I can't wait to get everything broke in and play with it.

It's all good. I haven't actually got my old heads to the shop but so far the quotes I've got was 2-300 and no more than 600 from another shop so who knows!

Well I finally got the car out to the track last night. The guys from the Roadkill show came to Tulsa and our track opened up for them and fans. Anyway I went out on my 17s with 555s and didn't do great. The best et of the night was a 12.5 with a 2.0 60' leaving very soft. The harder I tried to launch the more it spun. I need to pick up a better tire/wheel combo. My best mph was 119 though so that's promising. Overall I'm happy with it so far. The times weren't great but with that mph I should be mid 11s on a tire.

Which Mahle pistons did you get? I almost went with their new pistons with the 1/1/2mm rings but ended up getting Wiseco's instead.

IIRC they are the power pak ones with the 1.5 rings. I had the machine shop gap them for a 250 shot as well.
