Cheapest place to get the GM LS1 Hot Can?
Why are you interested in the cheapest place to get a hot cam? The reason I ask is because you will more than likely be spending extra money on other maintenance recommended when changing the cam. Honestly, saving $50 maybe not be the best option. Granted I am not saying Howards sells junk (I am not familiar with them but I am still new to the LS world as it is). Just something to think about. Good lucky either way.
Well I'm not looking for a cheap part. Just say if Jegs has it for $400, but WS6store has it for $450, well obviously I want to know that jegs has it cheaper. I've looked at all the big websites

That makes more sense. I just didn't want to see you buy a cheap cam and then regret not doing the build properly. Of course you don't really have to change anything with a small GM hot cam since they are not aggressive enough to require a valvetrain upgrade (even though it is always recommended).
Well speaking of Jegs if you are looking for a good budget cam I would consider either one of their house brand, only $291 and a much better choice than the hot cam. You will need to upgrade lifters with the first one but the second one you can run LS6 lifters.

Depends on how you have him grind them or if he has a shelf cam that will fit what you need. But I agree on GM cams put it together and close the hood and forget about it.
I sold mine yesterday for 400 hundred jegs has them for 434.00 with free shipping that was the cheapest i found the dealer will not budge typically on special order parts trust me i work for general motors and have already tried no employee discount either jegs and summit are your best bets and is your car auto or manual
Im looking for the cheapest place to get some "hot cans" as well.....LOL
(See thread title).
Am I the only idiot that went there (in their mind) when reading that??!!
Go aftermarket....any good cam guy (myself included) can put you in smoother gentler lobes that are quieter and easier on your springs and valvetrain but make a bunch more power than the performance OEM cams which are extremely lazy IMO (granted they work better than stock with the added duration).
I did that for my CTS-V build....small cam....smoother lobes for quiet and longevity but I know I picked up a bunch of performance over the ZR1 cam which is semi popular upgrade for the LSA hotrod Caddy guys.
Just my two cents.....and I was in the mood to have some fun.....LOL
If you need me to help you design a cam just PM or shoot me an email
Cheers,
Tony
