Default How to fix - Cracked Block

ok, so I haven't even put 1 mile on the new build... been fighting an oil leak, finally figured it out... the block has a hairline crack in the back, around an oil galley.

I think I have access to the galley via the plug above the oil filter. Is there a good way to glue this shut? can it be welded in the car? etc... looking for experienced opinions here.

Thanks,
Rick

This is aluminum or iron? A few details would be great. Aluminum is easily fixed, Iron? Not so easy, it takes someone with some serious experience and know how, a furnace, nickel rod or drilling and pinning, it's time consuming

Have you tried to personally fix one? I have, and I'm a pretty good welder. Wouldn't weld good, and would always crack at edge of weld no matter how I tried to heat/cool it. Tried it all......I personally couldn't do it, and I have every tool at my disposal. I would clean it, and sand it, and JBweld it....

Was going to say honestly there no good solution without a complete tear down then see how bad the crack is and why its cracked etc. May be able to drill the ends of the crack then weld it etc. Jb weld is great stuff but I seriously doubt it can withstand heat cycling over and over in that type of situation.

Well, I guess if you can't,
nobody can. I have not done it but have owned a side oiler 427 that had a weld repair done where a rod windowed the block, it was cast iron and was repaired by Excels weld in Oakland by someone that had " all the tools" including a funace. It can be done.
