Opinions on my build
Old parts coming off:
Stock rotating assy(pistons, rods, crank)
853 CNC'd casting heads with 2.08/1.60 stainless Ferrea valves. Milled ~.021"
New parts going in:
Mahle 3.905 pistons +4cc flat tops with valve reliefs
Scat 6.125 rods w/ ARP bolts
Stock crank-Polished and balanced
243 hand p&p heads, 2.02/1.575 stainless Manley valves, milled .005"
Once I get the motor out I'm taking the block and heads to the machine shop. I'm going to have the block cleaned, new cam bearings installed, and honed to size. Since I'm losing compression with the new pistons I am going to have the new heads milled another .030" for a total of .035" for 59cc chambers to get the compression back up (~10.8:1).
I figure I will need new pushrods since I'm milling the heads more than the last set. I have some Trend 3/8" tapered to 5/16" and was thinking about running a straight 3/8" and opening the pushrod holes in the head.
I would like to know anyone's opinion on my plan and is there something more I should do that I'm not thinking of? I just want to make sure I've got all my ducks in a row when I start this project so this can be built right and built once. Thanks for any input.
