I just got done with a cam swap (Vengeance Vindicator). started it and did a walk around. Saw my Harmonic balancer was wobbling a good amount. I bought a new one while doing the cam swap (AC Delco 12560115). everything sounds fine, its just wobbling a good amount.
its a 99 C5 base 6-speed untuned for now, internally stock besides the cam.
the size of the cam or being untuned wouldn't have anything to do with this?
could it be that the balancer is crap even tho its brand new?
Sorry if these question come off sounding dumb. I just made the switch from a hot rod diesel to this, it's my first ls1 build and its new to me.
I'm gonna take it apart tomorrow and see if i can find anything, but otherwise i'm stumped on this. I followed step by step from ls1howto.

It's either a defective balancer or you didn't seat it properly on the crank snout..

Did you install the balancer using the proper threaded rod tool? Or did you reuse the old bolt to push the balancer on?

And please tell me you didn't hammer it on lol

 

Yes, we put it on using the old bolt. I didnt know they had a special tool. But i took it off yesterday and bought a new one with the installer tool. So hopefully with the new tool it should install it easier and correct. Thanks for the help
