PRC 215 and torquer 2
Anybody running this set up? I've got the cam in the car and the heads sitting here from my other car. Just curious if id be better off with a different cam I do daily it from time to time. I'll be running a ls6 intake.
The torque cam lobes are pretty aggressive and will need valve spring attention. With such terrific cylinder heads, I'd consider something a tad more lifter/spring friendly. Perhaps a stg.2 BTR or the like
I've had my torquer v2 on BTR springs shimmed .045 for the past three years straight, and verified pressures each winter. So I'm not sure I see what the big deal is. I know there are better cams but if he already has the parts?
I've got tsp springs on the car now with the torquer 2. A few years ago I pulled the heads swapped lifters and trays and oil pump with the cam. I can just transfer my springs from the 241s that's on the car now to the 215s. Valve train may have 15k on it now. I'm gonna have the springs checked while it's apart at least.

There is no big deal...the OP's setup could easily be ran as is. I am wondering though why TSP revised the Torquer cam line with the v.4 ground on a milder lobe? Imo if the op drives the car a lot(daily) the v.4 makes sense. If the car is just a weekend street/strip toy then probably not worth the change. I probably should of been more clear in my previous post.

That gets lost in a lot of these threads. Very often, we are splitting hairs on cam suggestions that are all very similar in performance. Certainly though, valve events will change thins a little - how choppy it is, partial throttle response, low end torque, carrying power past peak.
I find XER lobes make for impressive cylinder pressures, and they make good power. But, if I can get just as good performance and quiet the top end down, why not, right?

In all honesty, it was due to customer demand. Everyone seems to be pushing for lobes that are fast off the seat and softer closing for a more quiet valvetrain and prolonged valvetrain life. That being said, XER lobes are not the crazy aggressive lobes some seem to think they are. The only complaint we've really ever received from XER lobes is the sewing machine sound from the valvetrain. We are just simply changing with the times, demand, and always in the search for better products. That is how our TSP lobes came about. We still offer the Torquer V2 as it is a proven performer. I personally like the V4. I always liked the 228R and V3. The V4 is just an upgraded version of our V3 with our TSP lobes. If he has the V2, I'd run it. The V4 will simply have more torque and a choppier idle. Peak power will be within 5rwhp.

That is what I figured...thanks for chiming in! I know xer lobes are proven and I have nothing against them. Personally I would want the quieter and prolonged valve train life. Glad to see you guys offering a softer lobe. I am guessing there will be a new version of the 228 soon?
