Looking for advice/tips replacing rings.
It's time for me to replace the piston rings on my car. I've put a good amount of nitrous through it and #3 cylinder is low on compression. My brother and I are about to start pulling the engine apart to replace the rings before taking it to get retuned(compression test before retune is how we found the low compression). I am tight on money so I'm just looking to replace the rings, not a full rebuild.
Here's the little bit I do know about it engine(thanks to the shop ignoring me after the transaction):
408 Iron Block
Trickflow 225's
Custom Grind Cam
Wisco Pistons
Eagle Crank
Yella Terra Roller Rockers
Patriot Dual Gold Springs
So basically I was hoping we could get some tips and tricks on the process. What to look for after opening it up, what to should/needs to be replaced as well. Once I get the pistons out I'll be taking some measurements since I'm not sure the exact sizes on anything. The shop that built the motor never gave me a full parts listing even though I asked about 10 times....I no longer do business with that shop since they basically ignored me after they pushed the car out the door.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
