Default Sleeved LS1 Block

Im in the process of planning out a NA build. I want max cubes but dont want to push the block too far. I was thinking a 408 LQ9 with a pair of aftermarket LS3 heads but hate the weight penalty of the iron block.

So i did some digging and found this; http://www.darton-international.com/mid_02.html

With this, i can run a 4.185 bore and a 4.125 stroke and have a glorious 454ci for around $2500 in a alloy block.

Discuss!! hhaaha

any time you can afford a sleved block its the way to go. darton sleeves are among the best and that block will be much stronger than an oe gm block short of an lsx one.

LS6427, a member here, did exactly that, hence the name. Maybe he'll chime in here and offer some insight and personal experience. That thing RAN though, I know that

Can it be done? Or am i missing something? Is a 4.125 stroke too much for the LS1 block?

On stock cylinders I've heard it's not the best, but my understanding is the darton sleeves are a bit longer and allow for that stroke with a good ring pack.

The 4.125" stroke would prevent me from adding a charger or gassing it down the track right?

Requires a different oil pan. Notice the 4 bolt mains. Good block but meant for pretty high end and power builds. For an NA build I'd stick to aluminum and have the ls1 sleeved.

I need to talk to someone with first hand experience with these MID Sleeves. Apparently they can hold in excess of 2000hp. If thats the case ill just go with a 4" stroke making it a 440 and strap a blower on it. That way i wont be limited to whatever the NA motor makes. When i want more power i can just turn up the boost.
