Default Btr stage 2 or 3?

I have read a lot on cams and getting ready to order one for my 99z. Just wanting opinions from people here who have ran these cams or similar ones. My setup is stock motor, ls1 intake, stock heads. Only mods are lid, longtubes, tune and 12 bolt rear with 4.11s. Car is a 6 speed. Just looking for a good sounding powerful cam. Don't care about max hp just want more power. Thanks

If you don't care about max power then go with the stage 2. It will drive easier and make more torque down low but also gain you plenty of power.

Another vote for the stage 2. It will respond well to an I take upgrade as well.

Since you have 4.11 gears, and I'm going to assume you're going to plan on heads and intake down the road, I vote for the stage 3.

Since no specs were listed I looked them up:

BTR stage 2 is a 227/234 .614"/.576" 113+2
BTR stage 3 is a 231/242 .617"/.592" 112+2

For your application the stage 2 is definitely more appropriate and is by no means "small".

You should look at getting a ls6 intake as well before the tune, it will be worth a good chunk of additional with a mid size cam like that (I would venture to say between 15-20hp).

I put a stg 3 in a guys TA, Excellent cam, very good street manners. Made very good power on untouched 243s. He's still on stock 3.42 rears too. I was surprised how well it drove.

Check out peak performance for a ported version. Awesome mod.

Peak speed themselves said its not worth it most of the time, basically it's a TPIS inlet or just port the throttle body and leave it alone.

LOVE my BTR Stage 4 cam. Makes great power up top but not much torque down low... which is where nitrous would really come in handy. Super choppy cam at idle and I believe the LS1 version has an even lower LSA so it would sound great.

With 4.11 gears, go with the Stage 4 you won't regret it.

I would DEFINITELY go with at the very least an LS6 intake.. ideally a FAST 102 or 90 would work great.
