Default Engine check question

I just bought a 2002 camaro motor. I ran the numbers and its an ls6 block. It has about 100k on it. I'm putting it in my s10. I did hear the engine run for a bit and it sounded good. It's leaking some coolant from the corners of the head gasket but I'm putting 243 heads on and some other things so that's not a big deal. Obviously taking it to a machine shop and getting a rebuild would be smartest, but its just not in the budget right now. Should I pop off mains and rods to look at bearings? Or would that cause issues? I just don't want to put it in if things are worn.as far as I know the car has been pretty stock. Was an auto that still looks stock, but random stuff was changed like exhust manifold bolts and gaskets. Not sure if it was beat on and switched back to stock before being sold. It's a little over 40 psi oil pressure cold. And seems to be about 35 cold at idle. The previous owner said it always ran in the middle. Would just like you guys advice. Thanks

Sounds like a pretty normal 100k LS1. I wouldn't open the caps but I would remove oil pan for visual inspection. Don't be too surprised to find the crosshatch is still on the cylinder walls

I got the heads off this am. the walls look good......but it gets weird. it had what looks like felpro head gaskets with copper spray. all the head bolts were the 04+ same length bolt. so im thinking maybe a reman block at some point......then I noticed every head bolt hole is helicoiled. and some weird numbers on the pistons. now im very nervous about this engine.

have you mic'd the bores yet? usually 010 stamped into a piston means its 10 over
