Default Head gasket question??? Please help

When installing new head gaskets do i spray each side with a gasket sealer spray before i put it on. Thanks for any light you can shine on the subject. mario

Composition head gaskets do not require any sealant at all. The only head gaskets that may or may not require sealant are steel shim type gaskets. If steel gaskets are used in your application, rather than use the 'copper coat sticky sealant' I would very lightly spray a high temp (1200-1500*) paint over both sides of the gaskets. It serves the same purpose and provides a more even torque load across the head as well as making clean-up alot easier the next time around. TJ

If you use any of Cometics MLS steel shim gaskets, you will not need any sealer.

I called Cometic and they recommend using Copper Coat on their gaskets for FI.
