Default Question about cam swap

Ok i'm thinking about doing a cam and head swap in the goat, its nice as is but wanna run 12s. If I do so i'm gonna do it properly get a ported oil pump, replace timing chain. But do you really have to drop the oil pan a bit to swap the oil pump? That may be difficult in the GTO. Has anybody done it without touching the oil pan? Looks like not touching the oil pump or replacing the timing chain would make H/C swap done faster.

Can anybody give me advice
thanks

You may wanna check me, but Im pretty sure you have to get at least the front of the oil pan off to get to the pump. I dont think there is another way. Good Luck

I would'nt touch the chain or oil pump if you don't have alot of miles on the car. With the car that new I'm sure you're not @ 40,000 miles.

not sure of the underpinings on the gto but on the fbod you only need to drop the pan about a 1/2 or so just to be able to get to the oil pick up tube bolt.
