you know what. might sound weird..but do you have an Air/fuel gauge? could be that the tune is a bit lean down low in the powerband. lean = heat. just something that kinda popped up in my head

+1 do like he ^ said...

remove hose from steam crossover pipe and connect a length of clear tube to the steam crossover pipe, and run engine, you will see air in the tube... when there is no more air (only coolant) reconnect the hose back onto the steam crossover pipe.

Lifting the front wheels or parking uphill helps a ton. That's how I do it and never a problem. Fill while running, cap off, front raised

I agree, this is how my car is (front lifted high) when I'm bleeding from the crossover

( using "Garage Talk" from my phone I was trying to add your post as a second quote to my post, but it was not working )
