Alright so for the last two days my car would start up fine and sound normal. But randomly while driving my rpm will go up and down and the car then dies out with a huge misfire noise. It then starts back up no problem but shows no rpms on the gauge . so confused. If i lay off the gas it stops it from dying. Battery and alternator are good and it has new plugs and wires. What could it be?

 

(1)I Would get a spray bottle with some soapy water spray the coil on wires while running and see if you see any arc's . If all seams normal and you don't hear the infamous cracking / light show. (2)Then start pulling plugs and check the plug gap you could have 1/ multiple that are gaped wrong .(3) Then always make sure you have a trusted gas source , you can check if your fuel pump is going out by checking the pressure on the rail a lazy pump will also contribute to those issues . (4) on rare occasions the positive terminal will come loose onto your (Jumper Red connection ) make sure its Tight 9/13mm bolt i believe . (5) Get a true Battery, Alternator reading from per say pep boys and check if the ripple has any inconsistencies it should look similar to a heart beat the same beat every time . All check all that when I get home. The battery and alternator where checked by advanced auto. Could it be a bad cam sensor?

 

Also no check engine light

 

Hmm Usually it will pop a cel if that is an issue. If you have hp tuners go on Mitchel check the parameters for the cam/crank sensors/fuel pressure / injector loads it should tell you that they all are at or use a live data logging feature scanner reader . I would start the the first post i did then move onto the deeper things since its always best to start where you last touched something

 

Check crankshaft endplay.
