StreetSweeper-HT 228/232 111+3... it'd make a ton of usable power everywhere in the range.

Thanks for the suggestions I've been watching the classifieds but everything that comes up is either too big or a newer cam I'm trying to keep costs down but looks like I will be buying a new one

What's your stall? Do you care about fuel economy? How "lopey" do you want it?

I don't have a converter yet was going to get on once the motor was done. Fuel economy doesn't matter to me I want it to sound good and pull hard I want to stay below a 3000 stall if I could

What transmission? With a lockup/OD tranny I would do at least 3000stall 9.5" converter with a stock cam let alone an aftermarket.

With lockup and overdrive a 3600 stall is likely to be a whole lot nicer on the highway than an old 2800 with a TH350. The deep first gear helps driveability with a high stall too.
You understand a decent stall probably starts at $600 right?

Don't pull your hair. Have a guy like Ed Curtis or Martin Smallwood custom spec you a cam. As long as you provide them with the correct information on their custom cam sheet, they will do the thinking for you.

A good 3600 converter will drive great.

A great cam for mostly "driver/cruiser" that would be tame manners wise but still have a ton of power everywhere:

If you want a little more and have a good tuner or are willing to tolerate some small manners issues the Titan V or Penetrator would be good choices.

At the end of the day most mid size cams are going to be similar...not worth stressing over. Quality of the cam core and customer service are the bigger factor than minuscule differences in specs in my opinion.

could look into a lunati (voodoo) cam. before i sold my firebird, i ran their 232/238 off the shelf and i liked it in my LQ4 on stock compression ratio. with a 3200 stall and the car weighed 3560 with me in it and ran a PB of low 12.4ish at 115mph at cecil county dragway on 2.1x sixty with street tires. it has a nice low to mid power and idles nice.
eventually im going to get another lunati cam but not as aggressive as the one in the bird when i cam my camaro.

There are professionals on here who get paid to do all the cam selection hair pulling for you. You will not get any better advice than to give one of those professionals your money.

That being said, I have heard nothing but good things about the cores/lobes/service from cam motion, and I would probably start with them.

I ran a 3000 stall for years behind my 6 liter. I like a little tighter converter for good street drivability. With your setup I would definitely recommend the Penetrator:
http://store.cammotion.com/penetrator

With 10 degrees of overlap it will have a nice lope to it. And, with a modest 43 degrees ABDC intake valve close, it will have excellent torque everywhere. I am a stickler for striking a balance between a great hotrod sound and great streetability. I think you will be very pleased with the Penetrator. Besides, when people ask you what cam is in it, you will be able to say "The Penetrator!" LOL.
