Default 243 heads for MY LS1

I recently purchased a set of 243 aluminum heads for my LS1 and I notice what I perceive as issues around valve seats due to casting. The top of one of the valve seats has a step that drops below the valve seat (pic attached). Also as I run my fingers around the other side of a few of the valve seats I feel there is a step on a few of them. Is this common? I was planning on doing a port and polish job myself, but I don't know how to approach these "issues". Do I just use a bur and smooth it out? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
JTH

Never touch the seats with anything but a seat cutter. I would have a machine shop check the heads to make sure nothing else is wrong on them then after I would do your port job and have a good valve job done on them...no way I would run it like that man.

Thanks for your input. Lets say my callout is the only issue. Will I be looking at spending a ton of money to fix?
