Another cam question- 5.3 Planning a 5.3 swap into my 85 GMC C1500 SWB. Planning on headers and CAI and removal of all the smog stuff. Will be reusing the truck intake and TB. Looking for a daily driver with better power. Truck has a 700R4 already, may upgrade to a 4L60E but dont want to have to convert my speedo to electronic. Gears will be 3.42 with a 28" tire. I love a lopey idle as much as the next guy but no required with this set up. Just want strong low-mid range power. Planning on the cam swap before the engine goes in the truck. I`ve driven plenty of stock 5.3`s so I know they scoot pretty good but looking for more.

We offer a camshaft for the 5.3 with specs at 210/214, .595/.598, 114LSA which works out great for applications like yours. It doesn't offer a real aggressive idle but it offers a nice bump in power and torque in a usable range. This camshaft also works in conjunction with your stock stall. The 212/218 cam is very popular with the 5.3 motor. I had one and it ran great. I put prc 5.3 heads on and it still ran great. I did recently go with a cam motion cam 222/226 .600 lift 115+3. The new cam has some chop and drives perfect.
