Default Oil shavings on drain plug?

I bought a a 99 ss with 27000 miles andchanged the oil as soon as I got it. It was only driven about 5 times in 4 years before I got it. There was a small bit of metal shavings on the drain plug. I cut the filter and nothing was in the filter. The car has heads and cam. Should I be worried? How tough are ls1's how much abuse can they take? I wanna take it the track but don't wanna blow it up.

My magnetic drain plug always has fine shavings on it. I wouldn't be worried about that. My car has stock heads and cam, but it does have 210,000 more miles than yours and it doesn't blow up at the track. It will run 13.1 - 13.3 @ 109 - 113mph all day in poor air. I don't know how much abuse they can take, but they are tough. I've been running the hell out of mine for a long time.

When we bought a 2004 chevy 2500 6.0 i changed the oil and the plug was covered with metal shavings. A 100000 miles later (very hard miles) the truck still runs great with great oil pressure.

At 105 000 miles (the other day) I noticed a few shavings so I'll see how long that 6.0 lasts. Can't complain too much as this $500 CDN lq4 has gotten me a 12.20 in the 1/4 with basically just a mailorder tune.
