Comp cam 218/224 first build opinions needed
Hey guys working on my first real build. I just purchased a cam, spring, and rod package from the WS6 store. I was worried about lift cleance so I decided to go with a comp cam LS-218/224 .527/.534 114LSA. I felt that for my first cam build i would go with a mild cam. I have a 2001 WS6 58k with SLP MAFS, Loudmouth exhaust, Bbk 80mm TB, Hyper tech tuner, 160 stat, co5 rims , and on order BMR 1" rear sway bar, tick adjustable master cylinder and cam package. Do you think I made a good choice over the hot cam? Has anyone used this cam? Do you think the hyper tech program tune will work good with this cam? And expected HP gain?
There might be some old dynos of this cam if you search. Be sure you change the valve springs. It is a mid-level, old tech camshaft which makes good power.
That SLP MAF is the 85mm with the resistor?
It is more quiet than the Hot Cam. Similar overall power. More rpm for this one, More tq in the hot cam. I would expect 370rwhp once everything is sorted out.

I liked the power band it advertised on the ws6 store site. Thats why I chose it over the hot cam for my first cam swap. I ordered the mike tolley valve springs and push rods to go with it. Thanks for the info
Yeah I believe the maf is , I'm the second owner just bought the car 6 months ago never checked it. Why any difference with it???
