If you do choose the Hi-Ram style intake, you will need a camshaft that is matched for those style runners to get the best power out of it. Any plans to run nitrous.

No, all natural right now. Maybe a turbo or a supercharger down the road, if i get the funds i would build it at that point.

I you aren't going to run nitrous, you might cozy up to the idea of milling the heads to increase compression and then fly-cutting the pistons to allow a for a larger camshaft. If you want to make really good power N/A, get as much compression as you can. A cost effective solution for this would be some CNC ported LS6/LS2 heads. They have 64cc chambers and if you mill them .030" it would take them to 59CCs and up your compression to about 10.75:1. That will help a bunch in making really good mid-range torque.

Ok, I don't know anything about get machine work done, i'm really looking for some simple bolts ons. Maybe when i get it running and installed i will go from there, i don't want to be figuring this out and confused 6 months down the road and the car not running. I'm going to sit down and start alot of research on engine building, you all talk so much that i have to google just to figure out what it means. I would absolutely love to tear this thing down and do all the preventative maintenance and give it a good overall durable build. I like to over build just for safety. Like putting good ARP head studs but not running over 400hp, just for the safety. Always worried about something giving out.

I just want to give the LQ4 a small punch, i'm seeing now that 500 is achievable but requires some more precise work. How about 400? Can i get to 400 pretty reasonably?

Yes. 400 rwhp is really just a camshaft away. You don't need any high dollar fasteners. Camshaft, pushrods, good valve springs, 1 3/4-1 7/8 headers, good exhaust and a free flowing intake manifold.

I would make more of an effort to raise the compression ratio.
