Default ls1 vs lq4 shortblock for my setup?

So ive been debating if the extra weight of the lq4 would be worth it compared to an ls1. I pulled my high mileage motor in my 99 camaro and have both a spare lq4 and ls1 i could put back. I am slightly concerned with handling since ive invested in konis and bmr springs but for a big torque gain, id could live with the weight. I have prc stage 1 ls6 heads, torquer v4 cam and ls6 intake with a full weight car. What could i expect in extra hp and torque from the 6.0? Either setup ill mill the heads to get 11:1 compression so thats not an issue. Also im hoping the cast iron 6 liter would have less chance to blow a head gasket because i may spray a 100 shot to it.

I went from a LS1 to a LQ9, and first thing I notices was the the stronger torque curve. Not huge, but definitely noticeable. As far,as the extra 100 lbs, I never noticed a difference but I don't road race or anything like that

Im hoping to make 430ish hp and 400+ lbs/ft torque. Im just hoping to get into the 11s and have a setup thats fun and makes power across a wide rpm range. Thats why i went with the tv4 instead of a huge cam. I had a built 5.0 mustang in the past that was fast but was boring to play with unless it was tached up. It had a huge cam with ported heads and intake. Im just not 100% sold that the 6 litre would be worth the weight over the 5.7. Anyone dyno a setup on both shortblocks? Id love to see the dyno results.

You will never notice that little extra weight on the car unless you road race alot and have gotten used to your car as is. Then yes you might notice an extra 100lbs.

Think about how you car feels when you have a small passenger in the front seat. Does it really make that much of a difference in everyday driving?

And all that will be easily overshadowed by the slight increase in torque, so you won't really have any issues with the extra weight.

The more i go back and forth thinking about this, i think i may go with the 6.0. I need to hook a starter to it and check the compression before i take the heads off. As long as everything checks out, ill use that. If it looks to be more worn than i thought ill get it bored and rebuild it to take more punishment. I only payed 300 for the long-block so i dont have much to lose at this point.

I vote lq4 (knock on wood ) everything is fine then you made out. If you have to get some work done it's worth it for the increase in torque
