Fresh 5.3 noisy lifters?

Default Fresh 5.3 noisy lifters?
I just rebuilt a 5.3 for a friend and when they started it up they said it sounds like a sewing machine. This is a stock rebuild with ls7 lifters and speed pro pistons. I have a video I just can't get it to upload through my phone. I followed the book to a tee. The only thing I think it could be was that I soaked the lifters in oil. I'm at a total loss here.

Are you sure you have the proper pushrod length? Soaking the lifters aren't going to hurt anything. A video would be great but it just may be normal LS sound.

Yes I measured the pushrods. I wasn't there to hear it in person but the owner brought it by a few days ago and it's sounds fine now. The owner said after letting it idle for about a half hour all the noises went away.

Happen to run a oil pressure test? Or what grade oil was used?

Oil pressure was 40psi. He was running castrol 10-30.

Check the air bubbles in the oil? The o ring on the oil pickup tube maybe damaged, pinched etc this will make the lifters loud.

If it is normal now, most likely it just took a little while for the lifters to pump up. As long as the noise doesn’t come back I would say all’s good.

When i installed my new morel 5315 lifters they made a racket for a minute or so then they quieted down.Does put some fear in you on first start up.
