Default Cam durability

Well I know a guy who is selling his 2002 6.0 swapped Camaro. The engine has ls1 heads and ls6 intake with a cam inside. Now guy who is selling it doesn't know about the motor swap or cam swap nor does he know the miles it was swapped. It's tuned by Chuck at HHP in Houston.

How reliable is the engine with the cam. Would it be reliable for Daily Driver and doing road trips.

That's pretty vague info...

How many miles are on the motor? What size cam is it? Does it have the correct springs for that cam? How has the car been maintained?..etc?

If the car has been maintained well and doesn't have a ton of miles on it, then as long as there isn't a big donkey dick cam in it, then you should be able to daily drive it as much and as far as you want to.

Honestly, you won't know to you check the heads. Plus, how long has the previous owner had the car? What were his driving habits with it? The cam should be fine, drivetrain is where you should worry.

I wouldn't buy a modified car if the owner can't give you a lot of specifics about it. It's a nightmare waiting to happen.

I wouldn't buy a car that Chuck tuned, if it has a mystery motor in it with a **** tune it's a recipe for disaster.

There's your answer then. All the vague info you have on top of someone that knows how the guy tunes (although every tuner has had unhappy customers I'm sure), is enough for me to walk away from the car. Seems like a Craigslist "gold" to me.

Normally I'd agree, but just google chucks tuning in Houston in the Texas members section, it's terrible, there isn't one positive review on it, it's bad.

To me, the tune is everything. You can have the best parts and combo in the world, but a crap tune can kill (even blow the motor) the whole build, literally! That's why I drove over 4 hours to get my car tuned after my tuner moved to Texas.

Or just go to the PCM tuning section and check out the "tuning saga" thread. Download one of those tunes and just look at it. There's about five members trying to help the guy clean it up.

Is Chuck @ CoW same as Chuck @ HHP? Is HHP HPE? Chuck @ HPE is different than Chuck CoW.

Chuck at CoW is a different one, he's a good guy in the Vette community. Chuck at HPE is the laughing stock of Houston. I think HHP might be his new business, pretty sure he started one.

The one in the PCM section is from Chuck CoW. And he has a putrid reputation as well.

Holy hell WTF happened to that guy? I only read the first page of that tuning thread so I didn't see that. I've only seen chuck advertise being able to fix EBCM's in 97-00 C5's, I didn't know he actually tunes anything, but damn is he hated, I typed his name in and wow, thank god we live down here next to all the good tuners
