Help. Which pistons?
Hi. In desperate need of advise on which Pistons to use on my build. The block is at the machine shop now. He had to take 9 thousands off the deck. I am running 62cc heads. He is concerned with Ptv clearenece with my .054 gasket. The piston will come out of the hole 19 thousands. I am lookin at a 3.905 piston to give me the extra room to clean a goudge out of the cylinder wall. He says I should use a .060 gasket but that will put me at 10:1 if my math is correct. I would like to be 10.5:1 or so. He recommends mahle pistons. I'm torn between mahle or weisco. Thanks in advance.

I was going by what the machine shop said. After my head stopped spinning I was able to get a grasp on all this. He was going by the factory piston coming out 10 then taking 9 more off. But the aftermarket pistons are designed for 9.240 deck height. My deck height is 9.231 so it will still only come out of the hole 9. Decided on weisco 3.905 -3.22 pistons and eagle rods. I should be around 10:6 with a .039 quench

RaceTec Pistons
Hi, I use the RaceTec Brand of piston, by Wayne Brooks. (he created JE).
They have both 98mm (bored 5.3 AL block) and 99mm LS-1 pistons with my engineering specifications.
My head gasket choice (MLS) is GM PP@.038".
YOUR PTV question MUST have camshaft Duration AND Lobe Center specifications stated for me to be of more help.
YOUR Head/Block/Piston could be OK @ .025" if I new Stroke, Rod, RPM.
The cost of the 4032 "AutoTec" piston is low.
