Default Cam question

I' m looking at a cam for My "racecar"/weekend driver.(mods in Sig.) I want to stay around 230* duration I/e, and around .600 lift I/e. The street sweeper looks tempting, as does the cam motion Titan 4. My concern is ptv clearance with the yella Terra 1.8 rockers. Will I be pushing it with .612" lift? , which is closer to .650 with the 1.8's. I have patriot gold duals, and 7.4" hardened push rods. Any input greatly appreciated.

We can convert the Titan 4 or any other cam spec to work with the 1.8 rockers so will still end up with the same lift.

As a general rule, I don't push for too much lift/spring pressure on low output N/A V8 engines. With around 350-400bhp, there is no reason to use a heavy spring or big lift camshaft; it will only add wear/tear to the valvetrain.

I am not saying your choice is poor or needs to be changed; but if you have another slightly lower lift option and weaker spring choice that still works out, It would serve the engine better with respect to longevity.

lift doesn't affect PTV. You reach peak lift 100 degrees away from TDC. Ramp rates and IVO and EVC affect PTV. A 230/230-106+4 will hit if lift is 550. A 240-240-120 with 700 lift will clear. It's the amount of lift near TDC you need to worry about. High overlap and fast ramp rates are the issue there. Titan 4 has neither.
