Oil Pressure Problem

Exclamation Oil Pressure Problem

I recently had a long block from one of the sponsors here installed in my car. At idle or driving the dash oil pressure will begin to fall as it warms up from 42-45ish down to 20-- and would probably continue if I ever ran it long enough to find out. We put a mechanical gauge in where the oil filter goes and let it idle from cold to hot and it read consistent 50's the entire time. Our next plan is to check it at the oil sending unit location... then the unit itself/wiring/pick-up tube/o ring--etc. Any ideas on why it's doing this or suggestions on things to check out that I can forward to my mechanic? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Car has only been through a few heat cycles and driven 5-10 miles at most.

Did you replace the cam retainer plate?

It was a complete long block with timing chain and oil pump already on it--all we did was swap over accessories/electronics along with newer style pcv, new OPSU, new knock sensors and harness, new valley cover, new valve covers, new spark plugs, etc. The cam retainer plate is behind the timing chain right? It would be however it was shipped I guess. My guys didn't get into any of that.

sounds like a cracked sender, If you have good pressure at the filter with a manual gauge ,you should have good pressure every were.

Usually 'long block' refers to a short block with heads on it. If its a new plate and cam I doubt that's the issue. oil pump o-ring is the easiest thing to check once you've manually verified oil pressure with a mech gauge
