Hi

I have 2000 5.3 stock short block ,799 heads and comp cam 242/248 .610/.615 110lsa +2

How can i get the highest compression ratio ? Without any problem with piston and valve clearance

I mean how much can I serface the heads and which gasket do I have to use ?

Btw
The bore 3.789
Stock pistons -8 dish
Stroke 3.622
Deck clearance 0.008

You would have to fly cut the pistons or replace them with flat top pistons with valve reliefs. You can also use a thinner head gasket to bump compression. With that cam you might have ptv problems without milling heads. The dish pistons on the 5.3 and 6.0 don't help with ptv. The valve will hit the raised part of the piston.
