Default Cam Swap (w/spring change) TDC method Question

I changed my cam and i am about to change the valve springs. I am going to use the TDC method that has been described very well on ls1 how to. My question can i leave the plugs in the head? other than the people who like to double check with a straw or a stick to feel if its at TDC is their any other reason to take them out? i also know that it would make turning the engine over easier but i am not worried about that. I am just trying to save some time, and my knuckles if possible. Thanks

how do you plan on holding the valves up when you remove the springs?

Just take out #1 plug, use straw/pencil/whatever to check for piston rising after intake closes, then mark the pulley. Then each 90 degree rotation after that is the TDC of the next piston in the firing order. Will be harder to rotate with plugs in though.

Farmington, The point of using the tdc method is for the valves to rest on the Piston while swapping the spring, I was just making sure I wasn't missing anything else.

Pat I have the timing cover off so I have the cam gear/crank gear dots lined up and plan on using them as my guides instead of crank pulley. I know it will be harder to turn over with plugs in but other than that I just wanted to make sure there wasn't any other reason to pull them out.

Thanks!
