I don't think 32s would do it either. I've got a new set of stock lifters. Not sure if that's a good thing or not for this build though. Any ideas?

I'll be honest. Before I saw this build thread I bought my LQ to jam into a fox body lol. But Jaxson's block was cracked so now it's his and I am looking for another LQ4/9 and a late 60's C10 as a home. So I guess this build saved me from a Mustang.

Definitely wouldn't put stockers in it. If you're sticking with drop ins, which is probably the most cost effective, I'd go with morel 5315s for the money.

I have some old LS7s sitting around but one failed and I wouldn't want to even risk the others over $200.

If you can't find any around shoot me a PM and we can figure it out.

I was born a poor blue child. Hoping a few of you get the movie reference.

I've had probably 10 Foxes, mostly notches. Love them still. My GF thinks they are ugly so I have to finish a couple of other projects and buy a bigger garage before I can sneak another Fox in...but there will be a Fox or two in my life again.

LX 5.0: Long nose, short deck, upright seating position, big engine, light car, no brakes to speak of. What's not to like? Some of them even had a blow-your-face-off airbag in the wheel. And don't get me started on the interior of the 90+. It's been too long since a car mfg made an HONEST black interior. Like ALL BLACK.

Lord baby Jesus, please give me the strength to not stay up all night searching eBay for "black on black LX coupe." Ok I'm going to stop now. Two movie references too much.

The Jerk and Talladega Nights?

My older brother had a 92 Mustang LX convertible when I was 14 or 15. First time I've ever been "cruisin" and I've kinda had a thing for mustangs ever since haha

Agreed. I'll never be able to erase the Mustang II from my brain. So that's what every mustang looks like.

She was driving a 4-cyl Camry when we met. Hadn't been washed in..well...since new. It was pulling teeth to even get her into a Maxima. So for reasons of keeping my private parts attached where they belong, her opinion matters. But since she isn't looking <whispers> she has no f'ing clue what makes a car sexy.

So many here will never forgive me for this but I would TOTALLY ROCK this. Cobra II(likely a clone) is actually on my short list of projects to build in the next 5 years or so. 302 CID LS(large-bore 4.8) with a sleeper turbo perhaps? I mean, it IS the "Pug effect" - that is, so ugly it's cool. But what better way to be unique on a budget? And the aesthetics of the car make it that much more embarrassing for the Vette you just smoked.

I appreciate it a lot Steven but I think we are actually all set on the car. Or mostly anyways. If something pops up that I can't get my hands on you'll definitely be the first to know! I hope to have some pictures of it in the next few days.

Sorry I missed this until now. I had a couple of things I would have been more than happy to contribute.

Any updates or pics? Is the car itself solid aside from the motor?

Hit a bit of a speed bump. When we bought the car it looked really straight. Not a lot of rust. Not the case of course. Tons of body work is being done on it now. We thought we were close to paint. The shop wasn't completely honest though. Kinda bummed as I spent tons of money on what I thought was a solid car. Oh well. It'll be don't right at least. Motor is all finished up and sitting in my storage unit. A_A_Ron is rebuilding the transmission for me. Still need to get a computer from a 99(?) Escalade and get that dealt with. And get a harness made. But other than that it's a waiting game now. And I don't like waiting. Or being lied to about a car that I'm buying. Or being lied to about the progress of work being done on said car. What we thought was going to be a bad *** birthday present now may be a bad *** Christmas present.

Dang, never saw this one. I was really looking forward to getting to the end, assuming it was all updated and/or finished.

Hope this project hasn't come to a halt...
