That 216/216 cam my buddy had was a .538" lift with fast ramp rates...its just that most people dont know those lobes exist. You could get a 216/220, but with the faster lobes. That 212/218 is a good cam, but the faster ramped 216/220 will idle the same and give more power.

The TR220 sounds very interesting to me now. Aren't single pattern cams better for N/A power anyway?

All the ones I looked to see some dyno charts online and they all made more TQ and HP from 2000-3000 over the stock cam.

How is the 220 for regular driving and what not?

Runs great. No stalling...its a little lopey, but sounds cool. If you want less lope, all you have to do is up the idle a little bit. My buddy's truck is his only car and he runs it in 0deg weather in the winter...starts right up to a steady idle. Now when he put in his TT3200, the idle got a little worse, but nothing LS1 edit didnt fix. I am personally a fan of single pattern cams for these motors in daily drivers. I'll post a sound clip if you want.

What does that TR220 idle at? I will just have my PCM reflashed again once I get the cam in. Is it pretty hard to dial in? Am I looking at 25-30rwhp gains over the stock cam?

The converter I'm going to use is the TT3K, it's ~11" vs that TT3.2K which is smaller ~9.6". In fact it's a retooled Trailblazer case. So it shouldn't set any SES lights due it having a slightly larger case.

A sound clip would be great. I appreciate your help with this tread.

The TR220 idles at 700 park/gear. Easy as pie to dial in. All I did was edit the VE tables slightly and raise the idle. I also upped WOT timing by about 8*, but he's running 92octane. It runs on 87, but switches to the low octane table and drops some power. We finally got the trans issue worked out (blown fuse of all things), so its back up and running...so I'll be able to get some sound clips tonight. Once the computer does its learning process, the engine NEVER stalls. We've tried to **** it off, but it still ticks LOL. You'll need to get the misfires taken care of in the PCM though because with a lighter converter and that cam, you'll set a light for sure and then you'll have trouble keeping the converter locked up.

What shift points at WOT are you guys doing with?

This sounds like a pretty nice cam after it's all said and done. I don't mind it sounding a lil lopey, I'm not trying to stay stealthy.

Shift points are at 6200 rpm. It could probably go a little higher, but in a heavy *** truck with a big 'verter, we figured that there was no need for the extra rpm. Its just that much harder on the trans to shift at 6600.

Very nice! 6200 were the points I was looking for at this point.

I don't have headers currently, how is this going to effect my top end performance? I know I'll lose power.

My buddy didn't have headers for a while...neither did I. When I got mine and had that TR220 cam, it made a huge difference. He noticed the same thing. I'd have headers on the "To Do" list if I were you. Cam only, you'll still be very happy.

Oh well yes, headers will come in time. I may get a used set of shorty headers to help breathe up top for a while. I know they suck but it should help over 4000rpm breathing.
