Default Quick Cam Question

Are the Gen 3 and Gen 4 LS cams the same except for the bolt pattern for the timing gear?

I am building a 5.3 LM7 engine, and will be using a LSA supercharger on it. I was thinking a LS9 camshaft would probably work pretty well with it, plus it is 1/3 the cost of an aftermarket cam.

Can I swap it in with out issues? (wasn't sure if the cams were different with the different cam position sensors etc..)

I'm kinda new to the LS world, so I don't know the answer, but in my research, I've found Comp Cams' website has a downloadable full catalog of all they company's components. I use it a lot to figure out which parts can work with others. It offers up some pretty good descriptions of how those components are made also.

I do seem to recall GM switched the cam sensor position from back to front during one generational evolution, just not sure when that happened.

Good luck in your search.

I'm 99% sure he Gen IV cans do not have the reluctor on the back like the Gen III cams do since all of the Gen IV came has the cam sensor on the front.

You can interchange them, but not without a little work.

The LS9 cam makes horrible low end power. Not to mention you have to run a Gen 4 cam gear and timing cover with the cam sensor built into it. In the end, you end up spending almost as much as if you had bought a real cam that makes more power and torque.
