So im gonna start gathering parts for my 408 rebuild and well i was inquiring about changing my r.a. or go by the sayin dont fix what aint broke...currently has eagle rods and crank and diamond -2cc pistons.. i was planning to upgrade to callies dragonslayer and ultra rods... but still debating... i am planning to boost the engine opposed to how it was a high compression before... gimme some pros and cons...

Depends on how much boost/power you plan on making. If well over 1k then it would be a good idea to upgrade the rods (pistons are fine).

If not making that kind of power, don't bother.

Like Redtan mentioned its going to depend on your power goals, and the primary use of the build.

Default Block Strength

My guess is that you have a "late" Iron block.
The Eagle Rods could use a bolt upgrade though when I buy this brand, I always specify the bolt upgrade. (little cost increase)

My concern IS the block main cap material.

I would fit steel main caps and studs.

Default Steel Mains

Yes, I use the L-19 bolts.

MY concern is your main caps, powdered metal caps.

They will break@1000 HP.

Save your money, get steel caps/studs, L-19 bolts.

When you boost "high", buy race gas and keep the C.R. high.
